I watched a Rabbit early this morning, stand still for a while. I once read that Rabbits can stand still longer than most other Mammals, or other Animals for that matter. I couldn't find, on the internet, exactly how long they can stand still, but I've observed them standing still for several minutes. The obvious reason they do this is to camouflage themselves from Predators. They generally won't take off running away until they're confident the Predator has spotted them.
The common Rabbit in my region is the Eastern Cottontail

We have the Eastern Cottontail as well. We live wooded & they are all over. We have to be careful when we mow & weedwhack as the babies can be found hiding in taller grass & weeds.

Cool. What region do you live in again?

I live in Michigan. Living rural, we have many creatures living around here.
